Usher Freaking Out

I feel sorry for usher, he's been facing a lot of negative press about his personal life on the release of his new album Here I Stand. I'm sure its affecting his sales, which to this day, is not doing as well as his last album (that one sold something like 10 milllion copies worldwide).

You can see from the video that he's just waiting to blow out, he looked exhausted by the end.

Trouble Brewing

This thing is starting to reach fever pitch.

Recap: I didn't follow this thing from the beginning, but so far this is what i can tell.

Angga, of the D'Makavelli event organizing crew, might have said/promoted the possibility of a Gossip Girls party in Jakarta with some of its famous stars hosting the party. He allegedly said that Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were in Jakarta/Bali a couple of weeks ago, and that he met them and verbally talked about the idea of the party.

Now some people are calling on his word and questioning him. Publicly.

In response, Angga posted a letter apparently sent by Josh Schwartz of CWTV and Warner Bros, who also created the show (see it for yourself).

I dont know man...why would the creator of the show be representing talents? i thought thats an agents job, but then again I don't know anything about how Hollywood works so it might be real.

Check out the thread here for the clarification and heated response from people (as well as Angga's response). They got real nasty at him, callin him liars and stuff, his response got even more heated.

This reminded me of a couple of years ago, when someone said that Paris Hilton was going to come to Jakarta and host a party at Embassy, there was even chain mail with promo pictures being passed around. Obviously she didn't turn up, otherwise we would have heard something (Paris could go pick up groceries and we still hear it).

Maybe they were trying to create buzz for the project to drum up sponsors, as well as secure the stars' attendance, who knows really.

Monthly Gathering

For a break in coverage, i'm gonna include some pics from our office monthly gathering, which for some reason this month had like...200 people. Most of our people are either on our ships or branch office, so the turnout is probably closer to 90-110, so it was quite surprising that many people turned out.

This month is pretty special so we had a nice Tumpengan instead of the usual cake hehehe.

These people gotta look serious don't they hehehe

Egg Phone

Designed by Roman Tubl to be an eye candy, the phone is not packed with the latest and greatest feature, but is amazingly good looking hehehe.

"The soft rounded body is surrounded by an illuminated red strip. The surface of the phone consists of a flexi true color display for tactile touchscreen feedback. You’ve also got your standard data ports like bluetooth, USB, and Wifi in addition to a 3.2 megapixel camera and a snazzy amount of memory - up to 4 GB"

Apple Gossip

The rumour is that the new iPhone/iPod touch is going to come in three colours, black, red and white. But it could be fan made, so we'll find out when it actually comes out.

I Gotta Get These

Hehehe i gotta get these boys, check out the video, these things are a phenomenon.

Naomi Campbell Got Dissed

Apparently Diddy threw her off his boat party in Cannes, wonder why they got into an argument, they looked like friends in the past.

Shakira Fell And Hit Her Head!

Shakira at one of her concert, quick watch this before they take it off Youtube!

Ouch, that must hurt!

Top Five Horror Movie

  1. The Exorcist
  2. Nightmare On Elm Street
  3. Jaws
  4. Psycho
  5. The Ring/Shutter
I love a good horror movie (though i'm actually afraid of it, but the thrill of getting scared is exciting). The Ring and Shutter shares the number five spot cause i love both of them equally, its the first time that i thought asian horror movies made the same impact as big budget western ones, and it made me afraid of tv sets hehehe.

Jaws and Psycho are just excellent movies made by masters of cinema (Hitchcock and Spielberg), images from both movies still haunt me to this day, and i was afraid to go swimming till i was like...15! damn sharks!

Nightmare is just a blast, how the hell do you run from a guy who chase you in your dreams?! thats an excellent concept.

But my number one scariest movie of all time is The Exorcist. I was so afraid to watch that movie that i would hide whenever the advertising for it came on tv hehehe. I finally saw it when i was like...21, that movie is my mount everest.

Perspective by Pharrell and Domeau & Pérès

Pharrell Williams has teamed up with furniture designer Domeau & Pérès to create this chair called Perspective. According to Pharrell who designed the chair, Perspective represents the love between a woman and a man. He says,

"I had often wondered what it's like to truly be in love, not lust for once.. So I decided not to ask what it was like in someone else's shoes or what it was like to sit in their seat.. I decided to sketch out my own experiment; the perspective chair."

Weird chair man.

Watch Out For This Kid

Colin Monroe.

Never heard of him? me neither, but this kid is amazing. You have to watch this video. Colin is a young musician who was inspired by Kanye's "Flashing Lights" track from his album Graduation. He was so inspired he wanted to remis the song and called it "I Want Those Flashing Lights", and made a low budget video of it with an art school friend of his.

Amazing video and remix of the song, check it out. This kid is gonna go somewhere.

Top Five Music Albums

I like to make lists, cause they're fun and quick to do. Here's my list of Top Five Music Albums:

  1. D'angelo - Voodoo
  2. Michael Jackson - Off The Wall
  3. Dimitri From Paris - A Night At The Playboy Mansion
  4. Maxwell - Urban Hang Suite
  5. Peterpan - Bintang Di Surga
I love these albums to death, and have listened to it obsesively when it came out and still do. But Voodoo is just...like it's title, it's just magic to hear. From it's first note to the end ("Africa") it's just perfection, and i agree that it's not for everyone, but for me hands down my most favorite album ever.

Breaking All Records

Wayne is not stopping at just being the most anticipated rapper to release an album this year, but he's breaking records left and right.

His Myspace profile has hit 100 million views! making it the highest visited profile of all time. Thats some serious bandwidth man, his internet visibility can rival the best of 'em. Downloads of his songs are one of the main reason that he is what he is today, one of the most popular rapper in the US and rapidly, the world.

His first single "Lollipop" has been on the #1 spot on the Billboard chart for weeks, and has sold 1,2 million downloads, as well as 1,4 million ringtone sales.

Not only that, there are 1,5 million reservations for his album "The Carter 3", So he's certain to go platinum even before he released his album hahaha

We'll see if his album is gonna be a classic or not, expectations are high for this one.

Summer So Far (1)

We're into the summer movie season and so far i've seen four films, Iron Mn, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Speed Racer and Indiana Jones: Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. I love it when theres something that you can look forward to seeing ever week hehehe not like in January or February, ugh, i'd rather watch reruns.

Here's a rundown of the movies so far, and my rating:

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian
3 stars (***)

I was quite surprised with this one, much better than the first one - The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe.

The kids are grown up now, and return to Narnia after a year (1200 years in Narnia time) to see that the land that they once rule peacefully in chaos.

Its a bit Braveheart-lite hehehe you see lots of people getting killed (seriously, even Repicheep the rat kills lots of people) but no actual blood, it is after all a Disney movie. But suprisingly good, and loved the bittersweet ending.

Speed Racer
4 stars (****)

Wow, thats all i can say. The Wachowski Brothers crafted another serious eye candy, and you can bring the kids along to this one (all of their previous movies including Matrix and Bound has been R rated).

The whole cast including Emile Hirsch as Speed is convincing, they successfully turned the cartoon into a live action world, and boy is it an eye candy. It's like a Murakami painting and pop art come to life, the explosion of colours is just mindbogling. It took a while for me to adjust to the world that they crafted, cause its obviously not a realistic world that the Racer family live in, but once you do you can enjoy the action and suspense. Love the "Car-Fu" as well, though i think they should have had more gadgets to Speed's car, cause it seems like it's only special ability is it can jump hehehe

Next time i'll talk about Iron Man and Indy. See ya!

Colbert vs Rain!

This is funny, Stephen Colbert of the The Colbert Report tv show, had a mock competition with Korean actor/singer Rain which started because he polled higher than he did on the Timo 100 Most Influential Person List (2005 i think)

So he kept challenging Rain to a dance off every time he gets a chance to do so, and here is the result hahaha so funny

I Wanna Go To Japan

I've been on a Japan kick lately, so i've been wanting to go there for a while. The latest destination i wanna go to is Roppongi Hills:

Roppongi Hills is a “futuristic micro-city” that was built in Roppongi (Tokyo) in 2003. The complex has more tha 800 apartments, Livedoor, Yahoo Japan, Lehman Brothers, Rakuten, Konami and Goldman Sachs offices, a cinema, a hotel, bars and luxurious restaurants, a museum, a TV studio, gardens, a gym, a shopping area etc
This is the Mori Tower, the most prominent building in the area.

check it out here for more attractions you can see there.

Montegiro Lusso Turntable

"The lusso is built upon alternate layers of aluminium and black acrylic, including the topsy-turvy cone for the aluminium platter fitted with an acrylic platter! The cones, connected to each other, embrace height-adjustable feet that serve for perfect set-up. The basic configuration consists of a 10'' carbon arm from Da Vinci (model Nobile), and the MG1 from the montegiro family, a state-of-the-art pickup-system from titanium. The top-of-the-line model with four cones includes a 9'' SME, model 5009 tonearm"
And the thing cost US$47,000!

Finally

I've finally made my decision, i've joined the Blacberry train and its frickin' good!

I got the Titanium grey Blackberry 8300, and sold my Nokia E61 to make way for it. Right away i can feel the difference, its so much lighter than the Nokia and thinner too. Feels good in my hand. Fortunately you can sync it to my computer, so i didn't have to input hundreds of contacts and pics to it again, that would have sucked.

The screen is much bigger despite the phone being smaller than the Nokia, and its much brighter too, i set the brightness to 20% to save power and amazingly it's still bright. The trackball is easy to use, and all the features is what i come to expect from a high end phone. I downloaded some Themes from the internet, cause the usual one is pretty boring. Try out this iPhone one for size hehehe aint that cool?

I'm lovin' it, pada pap papaaaaaa!

Best Korean In Jakarta

We went out to see Indiana Jones last night, and almost didn't get to see it cause cinemas were packed with people who had the same idea we had. Finally we went ot Blitz Megaplex in Grand Indonesia, and thank god my cousin hooked us up with some tickets.

To kill off some time (we got the midnight screening) we went to my favorite Korean place, located at the food court at the basement called Dae Jang Geum. It doesnt look anything special man, but damn the food is great and i would even go so far to say the best Korean in Jakarta.

Check out the Bi Bim Bap.

I had the Rameon with Kim Chi broth, again, its just noodles if you think about it but...amazing hehehe.

Check the place out next time you got to Grand Indonesia.

Casa

Had dinner at Casa in Kemang on Friday, and the place is packed as usual. It's unbelievable that a four year old restaurant that has had no renovations can still be popular in Jakarta, we can be a very fickle crowd you know. We played Jenga and had shots of vodka if you loose hehehe, the nachos were okay but nothing spectacular.

I'm Going To Disne-...Universal Studios Florida!

Universal Studios recently opened their Simpsons ride at the Florida theme park branch, though it seems weird that after 12 years on air, only now they finally make a theme park for Springfields favorite export.

Ichiban Sushi

Had a couple of minutes to kill before our movie started, so we ducked out and headed to the Plaza Senaya food court to get some grub. My girl picked out Ichiban Sushi for some reason, not the most obvious choice for a quick fix, but they assured us it wouldn't take long to make. Tried the Dragon Roll and Pearl Harbour Roll (weird names man), and both average tasting.

Next iPhone?

Apparently the next iPhone, which will have 3G capability and some redesig touches. Notice that the back is more curved than the original, and a bigger hole for the earphones or additional attachments on the side. There doesn't seem to be a major change to the exterior, maybe Apple will implement more changes to the software, we'll never know until it drops.

Finally The World Is Catching Up

With gas prices skyrocketing and more and more people demanding for fuel efficient cars, automakers are finally starting to realize that you either go green or die.

The argument against hybrids are that its only for small and medium size cars, e.g. Prius, Camry, Accords, etc. It's not suitable for bigger cars, no luxury car will ever embrace hybrids, blah blah blah.

That is no longer the case. Lexus was probably the first luxury automaker that seriously broke new ground by placing their hybrid engines into their LS, GS and RX line up. Not surprising since Lexus is a subsidiary of Toyota, the original innovator of hybrid engines hehehe (Honda too btw, though not many people know that).

General Motors (GM), as usual, is caught sleeping at the wheel and are now starting to implement their own enginges in their cars. And now would you believe it, a Cadillac Escalade is sporting a hybrid.

To me, this makes more sense. Cars that have high fuel consumption are obviously the trucks and SUVs, so the addition of fuel efficient hybrid engines are going to make more impact than in small cars. Man, these SUVs are serious gas guzzlers, so i thank an American car company for not following the "High oil prices and demand for fuel efficiency is just a trend" bullcrap way of thinking.

Now people can drive their favorite cars without feeling guilty hehehe Escalades are soooo nice.

Competition For Air Time

The introduction of Macbook Air has blown the thin laptop market out of sorts, with competitors scrambling to get their own version into production to compete with Apple's. I think the only laptop of that size that can compete with Air is probably from IBM/Lenovo, but i have to check that.

Samsung is apparently think about producing this one, a 12 inch concept laptop that, in the photo at least, could possible rival Air for thinness and screen size. Have a look at that!

Kinda reminds me of that Acer Ferari laptop. The keypad looks awesome!

Then you have Sony's version, the VAIO VGC-LJ25L. it's actually a 15 inch but its very thin.

It looks funny though with a half keyboard huh? Don't know if i would pick any of these over Air, but the're trying hard to gain back the ground they've lost badly and you can smell the desperation. Funny how Apple can come out with groundbreaking products huh?

Reliance Entertainment Breaking Ground In The US

Reliance Entertainment, a part of the Reliance conglom owned by Indian billionaire Anil Ambhani, is making major waves in the entertainment industry through several initiatives. They're making serious headways in the film exhibition sector in India and the US by buying a number of cinemas, forming a mini-chain that will be named Big for some reason.

"Reliance, in which billionaire George Soros recently paid $100 million for a 5% stake, has 250 screens at 28 North American locations. These include sites in New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, San Jose, Los Angeles, Washington State and one at Union Station in Washington, D.C." - Variety
In India they only have 150 screens, though that number is expected to increase up to 300 by the end of the year. They also have a development deal with big name production houses to develop movies.
"Reliance has signed a string of development deals with the production shingles of a stellar array of top Hollywood talent: Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Prods., Jim Carrey’s JC 23 Entertainment , George Clooney’s Smokehouse Prods., Chris Columbus’ 1492 Pictures, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone Prods., Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and Jay Roach’s Everyman Pictures" - Variety
In India they have production slate of 69 movies with budget of US$1 million to US$40 million. And besides movies, they're also going into television and the internet with a number of websites including a job portal.

Wow. Thats amazing, and they've certainly got the funds to back it up as well. While there certainly won't be any overnight break of the western (Read: American) dominance of the media industry, this is a major step in the right direction.

Reliance stated that they want to show not only Indian but also other Asian movies on their screens, this is an excellent strategy as there are lots of Asian and Indians living in the US and they finally have a chance to see movies on the big screen.

Even though i'm Indonesian, i've always thought that we should support our Asian brothers and sisters in whatever they do, because the more interest and goodwill is generated by our action is positive for the whole Asian region.

I don't see myself as a nationalist anymore, but a Trans-Nationalist. I think more and more everyday that borders are dissapearing and the world is shrinking. This blog you're reading could reach Venezuela, Canada China, Australia and many other parts of the world (it has, i checked the traffic flow hehehe).

So go Reliance! show some Indian movies in Indonesia and i'll give it a try.

New Beverly Hills 90210

Check out the trailer for the New Beverly Hills 90210 that they're looking to bring to life, with new cast members and couple of old ones reprising their roles.

The rumor is that Jennie Garth and Ian Ziering are returning to the show, don't know how or who they're playing though. Could we see Luke Wilson and Jason Priestley back? and Brian Austin Green is in the new Terminator show, so how is that going to work.

I didn't really follow 90210 back in the day, i would watch episodes here and there, but not religiously. This and Melrose Place i thought was too campy and soap operaish, so it didn't really float my boat.

First we had Battlestar Galactica, then Knight Rider, Bionic Woman and now 90210. Revivals seems to be the hot new trend in tv, maybe people are running out of ideas hehehe

Could Melrose Place be next??? oh please god no.

I Got No Poker Face

I've been seriously digging into Poker after learning it a couple of weeks ago, and been playing on Facebook to hone my skilzzz hehehe so hook up and challenge me there anytime. I'm lovin' the game at the moment, though i think it all falls to lady luck cause if your cards suck, then, you got no chance hahaha.

I don't really bluff often, only when i got good cards and cash to back it up, i got quite a conservative approach to it.

Tracklist For New Usher Album

Supposedly the tracklist for Usher's new album, we've allready heard Love In This Club and Moving Mountains, and both to me were...a bit underwhelming. It didn't have the same impact that Yeah had, i remember every club was bumpin' that song, and everyone was rocking to it including me. But there's still time, let's see what else he's got up his sleeve...

1) Forever young
2) love in this club ft young jeezy
3) This ain't sex
4) Trading places
5) Moving mountains
6) What's your name ft will.i.am
7) Prayer for you interlude
8) Something special
9) Love you gently
10) Best thing ft jay z
11) Before I met you
12) His mistakes
13) Appetite
14) What's a man to do?
15) Revolver
16) Lifetime
17) Love in this club part 2 ft beyonce and lil wayne
18) Here I stand
19) Will work for love (The Finale)

Dickies Hoodies

Lunch For 10 Men

Had lunch at Crystal Jade today, whew i'm full hehehe had Dim Sum, duck, prawns and many other delights. I swear i think i'm half chinese, cause i love chinese food like there's no tomorow, and Crystal Jade is one of the best places you can eat it in Jakarta.

Blackberry Clamshell?

Apparently this is the prototype version of a Blackberry clamshell phone, a first for the Canadian based company, nicknamed the "Kickstart". If you take a closer look it uses the same keypad as the Pearl, where two letters shares keys instead of a full Qwerty board.

Looks cool though huh? though it sorta looks like the Motorola Razr a bit.

G Shock Subcrew

A limited edition G Chock Subcrew watch. Aint it funny that a couple of years ago G Shock is probably the unhippest thing you could possibly get, then suddenly cause Kanye and Pharrell started wearing it it became hip again.

Serai Club Mainhouse

A couple of weeks ago i posted an entry about a project called Serai Club we're building in Bali. The 23 villa estate is about 80% done and we hope to have it completed by the end of the year, i also included some pics of the individual villas on the posting.

This time i am writing about the main house in Serai, which has 4 bedrooms, a kitchen and its own private swimming pool.

This is the best way to go hehehe total seclusion and relaxation, with staff members to provide you with food and drinks, as well as a driver to take you around Bali wherever you want to go.

Its also got flatscreen tvs in the main bedrooms, as well as Bang&Olufsen stereos.

Check out our website at Serai Club Bali for booking information and others.

Fastest Motorcycle On The Planet

Why would you strap a helicopter engine onto a bike??? hehehe i love the audacity of this thing, and for something that cost around US$180,000 its not exactly cheap.

"The MTT Y2K superbike is the world's first turbine powered street legal motorcycle in its class, and has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the "Most Powerful Motorcycle Ever to Enter Series Production" and the "Most Expensive Production Motorcycle". The Y2K is powered by a Rolls Royce Allison gas turbine engine, and the superbike has demonstrated over 300 hp and 425 ft/lbs of torque on the Dyno Jet 200, and has been clocked at a record-breaking 227 mph"
Jay Leno has one and he thinks that riding it is one of the most insane experience ever! it uses a two speed automatic, i guess manual shifting can't cope with the engine power.

and doesnt it looks like a fish? hehehe

Bad Idea

"I haven't even told Steven or Harrison this. But I have an idea to make Shia [LaBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out." - George Lucas

I don't know man, when i go to see Indiana Jones, I'm expecting to see Harrison Ford and not Shia LaBeouf. I'm paying to see Indy, not Indy Jr, you know what i mean.

Sometime i think George Lucas just doesnt think clearly anymore, i heard he also had clashes with Steven Spielberg over the direction of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. That's why it took 8 years before they finally got a script that they can agree on and start filming.

This is just a bad idea from the start, but, i'll reserve judgment until i watch Indy when it comes out next week.

hmmm...donuuuuts...

Poifect. Did you know that Krispy Kreme in Indonesia has lowered their sugar content in their donuts, cause sooooo many people complained that its too sweet. I guess our sugar tolerance is much lower than americans, but i guess thats why their obesity rate is much higher than ours hehehe.

I love the Oreo topping, though the original glazed donut is my all time favorite.

You know they decreased the sugar content

Hulk Smash Video Game

Check out some screen caps from the Incredible Hulk video game tie in, looks cool, you can smash up cars and stuff.

Ashanti Looks Hot!

Ashanti just did a Maxim magazine shoot, and she looks good! she must have an album coming out soon or something. I heard she ditched the Murder Inc guys (Ja Rule and Irv Gotti) but they still have her tied because of her contract, so i don't know whats going on behind the scenes.

Is she still going out with Nelly? apparently she dated Irv Gotti for a while before him, but could be just gossip.

Movie Stuff

Check out a promo shot for the live action Dragonball movie staring Justin Chatwin (i dont know who he is either) as Goku. You know, the Dragonball comics are some of my favorite off all time, its mix of action-comedy and science fiction is right up my alley.

it's creator, Akira Toriyama, somehow manages to plan ahead of the series how its going to unfold and i'm amazed how he is able to do that. How the Dragonball family grows organically and go on adventures together is just....unbelievable.

That said, i dont know how i feel about this live action movie, how the hell do you translate Dragonball with real people??? the physics just dont make sense.

I Goku going to grow into a big ape whenever theres a full moon? is he going to have a tail???

Here's the new poster for the Hellboy movie, hope the move rocks.

iPod Docks

Who said iPod docks have to be boring? check out some cool looking docks. The first one is a ruby coloured one from LG called the PC12DAB, which to me, is not the easiest to remember.

"Hi, can i get the PC-...the PC13BA-....No, the PC124553HJKLKDS" hehehehe. Thats ok, it's looks make up for its funny name. This one's my favorite though, a Transformers iPod Dock! yay!

Go Indonesia!

Yay we got into the final! but i don't know man...China looks awesome, wonder if we can beat them.

Bling For The Little Girl

Yesterday a colleague from work gave birth to a healthy baby girl, and we all chipped in to get her a gold bracelet with multicoloured Mickeys on it. She's gonna learn how to accessorize from birth man!

Suge Knight Got Dissed

Suge Knight, President Director of Deathrow Records and responsible for bringing in legendary artists like 2Pac, Dr Dre and Snoop Dog to the world, recently got into an fight outside of a club in LA and got knocked out cold.

This guy is the boogeyman of the West, I'm telling you when he walks into a club or anywhere, grown men get scared! The atmosphere would suddenly change. He's got ties to the gangs in LA like the Crips and the Bloods, so messing with him is like messing with fire.

He's apparently the guy who got 2Pac killed, Dre and Snoop we're actually scared to leave Deathrow Records for fear that he would also get them killed. Those two would actually travel with a large number of bodyguards in case Suge would do something.

Dre and Snoop must be smiling when they take a look at these pictures hehehe Suge got knocked the fuck out!

Batman Gotham Knights

Warner Brothers collaborated with the same Japanese animation houses that did The Animatrix to create the direct to DVD release, Batman: Gotham Knight. The anime mix with traditional Batman characters is gonna be interesting.

Check out the official website here for release details, i'll be sure to get a copy when it comes out.

Stussy Tatami

Love these. Tatami is a subbrand of Birkenstocks, so they look kinda similar. Notice the iconic Stussy writing implemented into the "camouflage" pattern.

Nike Stuff

Is it me or Nike is moving into Fashion more and more nowadays???

Then Again, who's to say that sportswear has to be ugly?

John Edwards Endorses Obama

I guess i'm in a political mood today hehehe

John Edwards declared that he is throwing his support behind Barack Obama

"The reason I'm here tonight is because the Democratic voters have made their choice, and so have I," Edwards said to thunderous applause.
There is one man who knows and understands that this is a time for bold leadership. There is one man who knows how to create the lasting change you have to build from the ground up. There is one man who knows in his heart that it is time build one America, not two, and that man is Barack Obama."
- John Edwards
This is good for Obama who recently lost out badly in West Virginia to Hilary. He lost due to the state's overall demographic of white working class voters, something which Edwards can definitely bring to the table.

I would love to see an Obama/Edwards ticket, something which i think might not be so impossible, considering that Edwards was holding the Vice Presidential position at the John Kerry/Edwards campaign four years ago. He might be open to the idea.

An Obama/Edwards campagin would clean out McCain come election time (notice there i didn't mention Hilary).

Star Wars Meets Reality

Gonna break up the news with something light hehehe otherwise y'all think i'm being paid by the Obama campaign (i wish).

Pretty cool take on how Star Wars would have looked like if Lucas wanted to place them in a more realistic setting (instead of the wall to wall CGI in the prequels)

You Can Smell Desperation

hehehehe

Michael Moore making '9/11' sequel

Yep you heard that right. Michael Moore (Bowling for Columbine, Sicko) is making a sequel to one of the most highy divise movies of recent years, Fahrenheit 9/11.

Currently the highest grossing documentary of all time, Fahrenheit took close to US$200 million worldwide, including United States box office revenue of US$120 million in 2005. Moore was hot off the Oscar nomination and win for Bowling For Columbine, when he announced that he's going to make documentary revealing Bush's action during 9/11, and the link between the Bush family and Osama Bin Ladden.

You can guess how people reacted to that heheheh.

I love Michael Moore work. There I've said it. Do i think that his work is for everyone? Hell no!

You either agree with him (Read: Liberal) or you dont, it's that simple. I like to think of Moore as a brand, remember when Oliver Stone hade movies like JFK? Natural Born Killers? Alexander? and he purposely went out to gain controversy so people would go see his films? Same thing.

People had a field day discussing why Stone made Alexander The Great gay, or did the government really got Kennedy assasinated, or did Natural Born Killers inspire copycat murders. Thats the brand, controversy.

Same thing with Michael Moore. I think he's brave for going against public opinion on things like gun control, healthcare and the Bush administration, which is why he gets my support.

T.I. has been experiencing a turbulent year with his court cases and house arrest, which apparently is costing him US$10-12 million in loss of revenue.

2006-2007 was a stellar year for him, his album dropped, he played a part in American Gangster, his endorsements and business deals were taking off, and nothing it seems could finally stop him from fulfilling his potential.

Then he got caught buying semi automatic weapons from a undercover federal agent.

How the mighty has fallen.

Looks like he's learning from past mistakes, and even though he might have to go to prison for at least a year, T.I. is gonna emerge an even stronger person and more determined to climb and reach the Hip Hop summit.

Check out his verse from "No Matter What", which can be downloaded from his website Streetcred.com for free. It sounds like a man hungry for success. Again.

"Pain's a small thing to a giant/ I was born without a dime, out the gutter I climbed/ Spoke my mind and didn't stutter one time/ Ali said even the greatest gotta suffer sometimes/ So I huff and puff rhymes, lyrics so sick with it/ Set the standard in Atlanta of how to get, get, get it/ Whether I still live in the 'hood or just visit/ Whatever you can do in the 'hood, I done did it." Pirates Theme Park

Cool concept art for a planned Pirates of the Carribean water park in Disneyworld, Florida. Apparently they stopped it from happening yet, but they're hoping that it will get the greelight to get made.

Gourmet Dinner

Had dinner at Gourmet Garage in Kemang last night, can't say enough about how much i love the place, though i hated the valet for not opening the car door for my grandmother (grrrrrrr).

The famous fried rice was there, i ordered the fish & chips but it wasn't good.

Aaaaaaah, a cool refreshing lime juice.

Captain America In Iron Man?

This site is reporting that apparently, Captain America's shield can be seen in the Iron Man movie.

Huh??

I thought so too, where the hell was it?? check out a pic from the scene wher Tony Stark is taking off his armor, and was caught by Pepper Pots in the act (just below his armpits)

I dont know man, it sorta looks like a shield with a star on it...but you never know hehehe.

Whether it's true is besides the point, even if it isn't real, more people are gonna keep talking and see Iron Man because of this.

Damn, those Marvel people are smart.

Its Got A Name, And Its A Bold One

Sorry for all the Blackberry related news, i've been meaning to get one and i cant seem to decide which, i guess its affecting my writing. I just checked my email and guess what, they just formally introduced the newest one called Blackberry Bold. And its a killer! dammit!

I don't know about the name, but it's the best looking out of the bunch, and it packs the most features as well as a revamped operating system. Man, the choice just got harder.

Check out Blackberry Bold here.

Which Colour's The Best?

Silver, kinda boring this one ain't it?
Kinda feeling this Titanium Grey.
Though this one aint so bad too.
This one's a bit girly right?

Kanye's House

Kanye West recently gave Interior Design Magazine access to his house in Los Angeles house, and its pretty modern and minimalist. You can see his love affair with Takashi Murakami's work is evident, with two of his paintings on display (the red and pink one)

Interesting Jetsons portraits, i remember going to a gallery in Bali that had those paintings from the tv series Heroes, but they were too morbid (most of it is death and destruction). The Jetsons a good choice, i don't know if Kanye is actually a fan, but it shows his love for pop art nicely.

Again, notice the Murakami "flowers" pillows on the floor. Brave choice there.

I don't know about this one though hehehe it's the painted ceiling oh his kitchen area, supposed to look like a Michaelangelo painting.

check out Interior Design for more.

Megan Fox Is The Hottest Woman On The Planet

FHM Magazine’s Annual 100 Sexiest Women list has come out and Transformers star Megan Fox is number one for 2008. Transformers really catapulted her out there huh, since i've never really heard of her before that movie.

3. Jessica Alba
4. Elisha Cuthbert
5. ScarJo
6. Emmanuelle Chriquri

More Proof Of Genius

An excerpt from an Blender magazine interview with Lil Wayne.

You call yourself the Greatest Rapper Alive. Prove it: Can you make up a rhyme on the spot using the words doughnuts, koala and Conan O’Brien? SufferFools, Modesto, CA

Whoever asked that is just as crazy as me. [Thinks quietly for a half-minute.] OK, I got you.

Like a car, I drive your ho crazy/In circles, like doughnuts/I drive your ho nuts/That’s the truth, you know I ain’t lyin’,/You can ask Conan O’Brien/And I’ve never seen a motherfuckin’ koala/But if I seen one, I’m gon’ holla!

I don’t even know what a koala is, man. It could be sitting right there and I wouldn’t know it.
hehehe

Star Wars The Clone Wars Trailer

In the mind of George Lucas, Star Wars ain't over.

After 6 movies and an animated tv series The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network (which kicks ass btw, cause it was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky who made the excellent Samurai Jack), Lucas aint done yet.

He's got an animated movie coming out this August, which they just released the poster for.

Apparently this takes place between the 2nd prequel Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith. The trailer is nice, who knows, it might not suck like the prequels!

Check out the theatrical trailer at Youtube here!

Funny Pictures

Was messing around with the Photobooth software on a Mac, and took some hilarious pics hehehe

I call this one the Dragonball!

This one the Plastic Man!

10 Best Simpsons Episode

Vanity Fair posted their 10 Best Simpsons Episode List, which include some of their most famous episodes such as "Marge vs The Monorail", "Bart vs Australia" and "Rosebud".

I dont agree with all of it, in fact i think the episode where Homer tells the story about giving up his bowling job for Maggie is my pick for number one Simpsons episode ever. That was the episode where for me, The Simpsons transcended its cartoon tv boundaries and limitations, and became one of the best shows ever in history.

To be fair, i think its recent seasons have been average at best, i thought it probably peaked at season 8 or 9. And the movie was....it was okay....but nothing to shout home about.

Check out the list on Vanity Fair here!

She Will Be Back!

Yes! finally confirmed that tv series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (TTSCC) will be coming back for a second season. I've really taken a liking to this series, if you're like me and you like a bit of SciFic with drama and action in it, as well as some thought provoking concepts, then TTSCC is something that you might want to track down and watch.

“Connor” premiered in January as a midseason drama, but Fox is shifting the show to its fall lineup for next season. The network on Monday handed a 13-episode order to the sci-fi drama, an extension of the “Terminator” feature franchise. The series revolves around Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) and her son, John (Thomas Dekker), as they battle enemies from the future with the help of a goodhearted terminator, Cameron (Summer Glau). - Official FOX statement

Out of all the new shows these past few years, nothing has really exploded like recent phenomenons Grey's Anatomy and Heroes, and before it shows like Sex & The City, Friends, Seinfeld, etc2.

None of them made that much impression, has anyone really seen John of California? Big Love? Chuck? i didn't think so.

I had really low expectations when i heard about TTSCC, i was afraid that they were just cashing in on the Terminator franchise with a crappy tv show that had zero quality stories and even crappier special effects. How can you tell Terminator stories without the impressive robots? and on a tv budget??? that just seems impossible.

But trust me, if you like the previous Terminator movies (discounting T3, only the ending was good, no, excellent!), then you will go ga-ga for TTSCC. It continues the storyline with clever twists and turns, especially the time travel stuff. Executive Producer Josh Friedman (who surprisingly wrote War Of The Worlds and Snakes On A Plane) managed to stretch the tv budget to include future wars, and the stories...man they kick ass.

So give TTSCC a chance, you'd be surprised.

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

BARACK OBAMA:
The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a CHANGE! The chicken wanted CHANGE!

JOHN MC CAIN:
My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON:
When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely
qualified to ensure -- right from Day One! -- that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me.......

GEORGE W. BUSH:
We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is
either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

COLIN POWELL:
Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image
of the chicken crossing the road...

JOHN KERRY:
Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it!
It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it.

Some Cool G.I.Joe Pics

Obama Win North Carolina, Indiana Too Close To Call

CNN and a number of media is reporting that Obama has won North Carolina (NC) with a 14 point lead over Clinton, but Indiana is still too close to call.

A win in NC also gives him a large chunk of the 115 delegates there, which will give him more support.

The exit polls showed voter turnout reaching new record numbers.

"Turnout in the North Carolina Democratic primary was expected to reach 50 percent, according to Gary Bartlett, executive director for the North Carolina Board of Elections. That figure would far exceed the 15 percent to 30 percent that usually turn out for a primary, he said"

The CNN poll of polls for the Indiana race on Monday has Clinton leading Obama 48 percent to 44 percent with 8 percent unsure. Thats just too close to call hahahaha could go either way, we'll never know until the official word is given.

You know what i think. "what?", you say. I think that even if Obama wins in Indiana, Hilary is still going to keep going.

She's just that stubborn.

It doesnt matter that both of their resources and funds will be spent cause they're protracting this battle, and that the longer it goes on the more divisive the democratic party is becoming.

Hilary has too much at stake too give up, i think its that simple.

This has been 5-6 years in the making, starting with her stint as senator in New York and now the presidential campaign. She's raised too much money and have gotten too far to just...give up. Shes gonna fight all the way to the Democratic convention (Jun 3rd) even if Obama's lead increases.

Sad isnt it.

The Reality Of The World In Football

Some interesting articles about the financial reality of the footballing world today.

Both Kevin Keegan and Harry Redknapp, manager of Newcastle United and Portsmouth respectively, have publicly stated that in the footballing world of today you need megabucks in order to compete with the elite teams such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.

"The unpleasant reality is that £50 million, which appears to be the standard fee for having a go these days, will not touch it at Newcastle, not even come close. Manchester City spent £50 million last year, so did West Ham, and where has it got them? Mid-table, much the same as Newcastle. Liverpool may need £50 million to stay in touch with Manchester United and Chelsea and this was a team who were one match away from a third Champions League final in four seasons"
Kevin (in this article) gave Chelsea as a great example of this trend, in Andrey Shevchenko they have a £30 million striker thats sitting on the bench and not even starting every game. How can you compete with that???

Harry believes that it will take £150 million for any Premier League side to shatter the big four's dominance of the division (read the rest here). Although he did point out that clubs like Tottenham have spent close to £75 million and have gotten nowhere (currently 10th in the league if i'm not mistaken).

These figures are astronomical, i guess thats the sad reality of today's footballing world.

The Carter III Tracklist

Lil Wayne just released the official tracklist for his upcoming album, The Carter III. Looking at it you can tell that we're going to get guest appearances from Jay Z, T-Pain, Robin Thicke and many more.

Tha Carter III: Tha Tracklisting

15. Let the Beat Build
16. Whip It

If you've been reading the site you know i'm a huge Wayne fan, i think he's maturing quite nicely and hopefully will deliver the long awaited promise of classic album this time around. I thought his first single, Lollipop was good, but not great. Though it did give him his first number one hit in the US.

Here's a reminder of Wayne's creative genius. "All Alone" shouts out his former crew members Juvenile, Turk and BG, as well as his former girlfriend Trina. Bear in mind that those guys dissed him on songs before, and that Trina apparently cheated behind his back.
Lil Wayne - All Alone lyrics

I Wake Up In The Morning Take A Knee And Thank God,
Then Go To The Mirror Look Myself In The Eyes
Today I Didn't Wake Up With A Woman On My Side,
Yesterday, I Didn't Wake Up With A Woman On My Side
Neither The Days Before That Nor Before That
I Just Remembered The Moments, Call Me Kodak
In All That I Do Miss You But it's your denial
That I Must Hold Against You
Since You Been Gone I Have Been All Alone
But Alone Is Steriod 'cause It Makes Me Strong.
Girl, Her Gone In The Wind,
You Cheated On Godson Baby Girl That's A Sin
But I Forgive You, But I Can't Give You
Another Chance Ma, You Are In My Rearview
And I Put That Ring On Your Finger, I Was All In
But Now It's Just A Symbol Of What Could Have Been

Goddamn; I Know Am By Myself, But

Damn, She Left Me All By Myself, But

Yo!
I Love My Niggaz, No Homo
I Swear I Hope They All Get Cheese Like D'journo
It's Something About The Hot Boyz That You Don't Know
I Got A Lot Of Love For Them That I Don't Show
And B.G. Been My N**** Since The Front Door
I Hope Choppa City Records Blow.. Fa Sho
And Me And Juve Never Really Got Along
But You Still Would Let Your N***A Come Get On Your Hottest Song

I Had My Own Lawyer Workin' On Turk's Case
After I Heard Him Dissin Me On The Mixtape
'cause He's Locked Up And I'm Free
He Got A Lot More To Worry About Than Me
I Aint Tripping

Time To Kill

We went out for lunch and movie (the documentary Earth) at Blitz Megaplex, Pacific Place, again on Sunday, and had time to kill until the 5 o'clock start. So we decided to check out the gaming place they had inside.

Some were playing Fifa soccer, but i was checking out Guitar Heroes with the others. I wish they had more songs from more famous bands like Nirvana or Velvet Revolver.

There are tons of games there, ranging from PS3s to Wiis and Xboxes. Excellent place to kill some time.

Marvel Crossovers

For movie and comic book lovers, Iron Man kicks ass! and y'all should see it at least five times to make it a hit so they can make many sequels, and we shall be entertained for more summers.

The cool thing about Marvel is that they raised US$525 million in financing from Merrill Lynch, to produce their own movies starting with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Punisher: Warzone this summer. Distribution will still be handled by major studios like Paramount (for Iron Man) and Universal (for Hulk)

I think this is a smart move on Marvel's part, by owning and producing their own movies, their characters are able to appear in each others movies and cross promote. This way they will also reap the majority of the profits generated by the movie, as well as from toys, games, theme parks, etc.

But the cool thing about reading the comics is that you never know what might happen every month. Spiderman could be fighting some bad guy, and he could get help from the Fantastic Four or something. Wolverine could be figthing Captain America, realize they're actually on the same team, then team up against Magneto in one issue.

Thats the legacy of Marvel comics, their stories always seem to share one universe.

With Spiderman (licensed by Sony), X-Men and Fantastic Four (with Fox), they can never appear in one movie cause the rights are held by different studios, its just to difficult to work out and you know the studios are greedy hehehe.

Marvel Feature Film Projects:
Iron Man, Marvel - May 2, 2008 release
The Incredible Hulk, Marvel - June 13, 2008 release
Punisher: War Zone, Lionsgate - September 12, 2008 release
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Fox - May 1, 2009 release
Ant-Man - Development, TBC
Captain America - Development, TBC
Thor - Development, TBC
The Avengers - Development, TBC

Historically, The Avengers was led by Captain America and consisted of members like Thor, Iron Man, Ant Man, the Wasp, and others members. Other heroes like Spiderman, The Beast and other members came in and out in future storylines, but the core and founding members are the ones i mentioned earlier.

The reason that the Avengers was put together in the first place was to combat a rampaging green monster that was considered a threat to national security.

See what i'm getting at???

I swear the people at Marvel are marketing geniuses. They create a lot of positive buzz and excitement through things like this, something that no regular film studio has the imagination and capacity to do.

Here's the first step into this reunion, if you watch Iron Man in the cinema, stay until the end of the credits and get a glimpse of what could happen in the future:

Iron Man (which i'm going to write in a separate article about) generated US$201 million from American and overseas market in just five days, i think that shows the quality of the movie and that people liked it, and told other people to go and see it. I think its gonna generate even more, and we're not even factoring the DVD and toy sales, as well as related comic books and other licensing.

Here's hoping that they can keep up the quality, and we get to see them team up in an all new thrilling adventure.

Avengers assemble!!!

Lenovo Ideapad U110

This look pretty cool, the detailed casing cover is very different to most computers.

Apparently the glossy keyboard (see above) picks up fingerprints like a magnet. That sucks, i dont like that.

Serai Club Bali

I'm going to shamelessly plug something that is related to me, but this is my blog, so i can do whatever i want!

We're building a hotel in Bali called the Serai Club, here's a short description of the project:

"Secluded at the coveted Bukit area of Jimbaran Bay on Bali's southwestern shores, The Serai Club is an exclusive twenty-three villa estate which represents the pinnacle of tropical luxury and indulgence. Constructed in harmony with nature, each villa offers the best Balinese living with its thatched alang alang roof and open bale style architecture set within a private compound of landscaped gardens"
Serai offers intimacy and privacy over hotels with 150+ bedrooms, so it caters for a different type of market and demographics. Hopefully we can get the project completed by the end of the year (crossing my fingers) to capture that New Years celebration.

We just recently finished 4 of the villas, with the rest about 80% done. Have a look at some pictures of what Serai has to offer:

Check out our website at Serai Club Bali for booking information and others.

Casino Royale

Played some poker last night at my cousins house. I never played the game properly before but i didn't do tooo badly hehehe, actually made a nice tidy profit. I was playing with the big boys too, so i was pretty intimated for damn sure.

I decided to take a conservative approach, only went in when i had a decent hand and just folded whenever it seems too risky.

The tide turned when i won with two pairs (king and 8), then....then came the stuff of legends. hehehe. The next round came. I looked at my cards, it was spades, a 9 and a king. I looked at the cards laid out before me. They were all spades. A 10, Jack, Queen and King.

I had a Royal Straight Flush.

Hot damn!!! What are the chances of that coming out???

The whole table was like WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

It was a good night. Damn, that was a good night.

I Feel Like A Man

There's something about eating a big chunk of meat that makes you feel manly (or is it just me?).

Had dinner at an Argentinean steakhouse last night called Brasas, at Blitz Megaplex Pacific Place. The short ribs and rib eye is just soooooo goooood. Steak and red wine, just perfect. I recommend the place very highly.
