Supporting Local Talents

Doing my bid to support local talents, today I'm highligthing a musician whose name is Iman Fattah, son of famed Donny Fattah (plays bass for legendary Indonesian rock band God Bless).

Multi talented would probably be a better description of him as he not only play/produce music with like a million bands hehehe (inside joke here), he also scores movies and take very good photographs. Iman been a fixture in the burgeoning indie community in Indonesia, let's hope his bands and music will get more recognition in the future.

Check out his website at Imanfattah.com for more info.

Pastis

Had dinner at Pastis a couple of weeks ago for a birthday celebration, and tried some things that I haven't tried before. The four choice appetizer was pretty good, and since I like salty food of course the cheese was pick of the bunch hehehe.

I had the spiced chicken with potatoes, which wasn't too bad, but I was pretty surprised by the size of the thing. Whoaaaaa nelly!

My sister had the Hainan duck rice, seems decent but I didn't try it.

I Still Don't Get It

Everytime I go here there's always a line and I gotta wait at least 10 minutes to get some yoghurt, and it taste ok at best, so why do I keep coming back??? I dont know hehehe

Kris Allen The Dark Horse

I was struck by a serious throat infection last week and had to take bed rest for 5 days, so I really didn't have the best of weekend with DVDs and TV my only source of entertainment. The cable was running an American Idol marathon and since I really didn't have anything better to do, I watched almost all of it back to back and was surprised by the arc of the show if you watch it in one go.

I was rooting for Adam Lambert before just based on his "Tracks Of My Tears" performance, which is still probably the best performance of the season, but I based that on one show and didn't really watch any other episodes before or after. All I know was that performance dropped my jaw and he had my support, plus he's one of a kind, very daring song choices and interpretation.

Compared to Adam, Kris Allen is just boring. But I get it now, and I'll probably will be cheering for Kris come final elimination.

I always liked the underdogs, and Kris is about as bellow the radar as they come. Ok, his voice is not the best in the competition (I'll give that to Danny Gokey), and he's also not very consistent but Kris has his own charm and is very likeable. Adam is very theatrical while Kris is laid back and looks more comfortable playing the guitar than singing solo.

When the Disco week episode came on and I heard he was doing Donna Summer's "She Works Hard For The Money" I nearly laughed my ass off hahaha, but take a look and you'll see a different and original take that actually made Simon applaud him.

Here he is singing Kanye West's "Heartless", I didn't think it was the best thing ever like some of the judges did, but it was good nonetheless.

Axe by Yone

Interesting ad campaign here (cough cough), not sure what Axe is trying to sell but if they're trying to create hype then Japanese photographer Yasumasa Yonehara (Yone) is definitely the man to do it.

Yone is one controversial cat, his style if very raw and seductive as you can see, so there is always a debate about art/exploitation or style/porn around this guy. It always feels like a private session with you, the girl and your camera, very intimate and sexy, so I guess that's what Axe was trying to pull off.

His work has been bubbling under the radar for a minute cause he does most of his work for underground Japanese magazines, who knows, the ad might push Yone to the mainstream. To me he's always been the personification of the Japanese obsession with women, all fetish and hyper sexualized, but in today's age i'm not sure thats uncommon anymore hehehe.

You can see the website and more pics at Zozoresort here (you know you want to!).

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Trailer

The new trailer for the Transformers sequel promises even more robot on robot action and mayhem, this time I think they're going to go all over the world and won't be restricting most of the action to the US. Doesn't hurt that Megan Fox is in it too hehehe

501XX 1947 denim

A bit too much going on for my taste, I like to keep it simple but the detail is nice though.

Nixon Chrono Leather

I love Nixon watches, these limited edition Chrono Leather in brown and bronze are amazing and a nice addition to the family. My only advice in getting watches with dark dials is make sure the hand is of a different colour, I had one that has metallic dial and hand and the result? I can't tell the time hehehe

These Nixons are on the right path though.

Check it our here for more info.
